For many people in Contra Costa County, access to mental-health care has never been equal — and for those disproportionately impacted by trauma, displacement, community violence, and systemic neglect, traditional therapy often comes too late or feels out of reach. The Healing Spot Counseling Center exists to change that reality.
Created as a community-rooted sanctuary for healing, The Healing Spot recognizes that emotional distress is not just an individual experience — it is shaped by environment, history, injustice, grief, and isolation. Their work meets people exactly where they are, acknowledging the full context of their lives rather than treating pain as a personal flaw.
The Healing Spot intentionally serves populations who are too often missed by mainstream mental-health systems — including low-income families, children and teens, front-line workers, those experiencing housing insecurity, and individuals carrying untreated trauma. Their mission is not simply to offer therapy, but to restore dignity, safety, and emotional steadiness in people who may never have had access to it before.
This is counseling as connection.
This is therapy as community care.
This is healing without gatekeeping.
What They Offer & Who They Serve
The Healing Spot Counseling Center provides accessible, trauma-informed mental-health services for individuals and communities who are most often left out of traditional care systems. Their clients include low-income families, Black and Brown communities, children and teens, first responders and frontline workers, trauma survivors, and individuals experiencing housing instability or economic hardship.
Their services include:
Individual, Couples, & Family Therapy
Child & Adolescent Counseling
Group Therapy & Community Wellness Workshops
Support for Clients Facing Housing or Financial Instability
Counseling for First Responders & Frontline Workers
Training, Supervision & Internship Development for Emerging Clinicians
Both In-Person (Antioch, CA) and Virtual Counseling Options for Accessibility
The Healing Spot meets people where they are — emotionally, financially, and geographically — ensuring that care is not a privilege, but a pathway to stability and healing for those who need it most.

Partnership Acknowledgment
The organizations featured in Miles of Connections are part of a countywide effort to advance health, healing, and well-being within Contra Costa’s Black communities. Along with The Miles Hall Foundation, twelve organizations received funding through Contra Costa County to expand culturally rooted care and community support.
This work is built from the voices of over 4,000 Black residents who shaped the vision for a stronger ecosystem of services. In response, on August 12, 2025, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the launch of what will become the Federal Glover African American Holistic Wellness and Resource Hub — a coordinated network of Black-led wellness services to be anchored in East County.
The Contra Costa Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice (ORESJ), in partnership with the East Bay Community Foundation, is supporting this first cohort of organizations to ensure services reach the community now while the Hub’s long-term infrastructure is built.
As part of this initiative, The Miles Hall Foundation leads the “Miles of Connections” outreach effort, helping residents learn about, access, and connect with these vital healing resources.
