The programs featured below received funding from Contra Costa County as an initial step towards realizing a community vision of increased health, safety and well-being within the county’s African American communities.
The work to create this new resource for African Americans in Contra Costa County was built from the voices of over 4,000 Black residents who shaped the vision for a stronger ecosystem of services. In response, on August 12, 2025, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the launch of what will become the Federal Glover African American Holistic Wellness and Resource Hub — a coordinated network of Black-led wellness services to be anchored in East County.
The Contra Costa Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice ORESJ is stewarding the planning process in close coordination with community and County partners and will provide regular updates in the months to come as the vision of a countywide network hub becomes a reality.
In the meantime, ORESJ is partnering with East Bay Community Foundation to coordinate and support this first cohort of Black-led service organizations in providing much needed services now while plans for the Hub are being developed. Learn more about each organization below and how to access services today.
As part of this initiative, The Miles Hall Foundation is leading the “Miles of Connections” community outreach effort, helping the the community learn more about, access, and connect with these vital healing resources.
