Finding the Right Response: Community, not Cops, for Mental Health Crises

The Right Response

Are you or someone you know struggling with a mental health crisis, substance abuse, or behavioral health issue? Often, the first instinct is to call the police. As we know all too well, the response from police often ends up with handcuffs, harm, and even death. That is not the "right response"! There are safer and more supportive options in many places across the country.

THE RIGHT RESPONSE TO MENTAL HEALTH EMERGENCIES

The Right Response (TRR) is a project of  1 Million Madly Motivated Moms Inc. (1M4) who are dedicated showcasing non-police response programs across the country. TRR, like The Miles Hall Foundation, is dedicated to illuminating a safer path for individuals and communities dealing with crises. We understand that traditional police responses are not the most suitable or safest option for everyone – especially involving mental health, behavioral health, and substance use emergencies. Committed to fostering a culture of empathy, understanding, and non-violence, they share our aim to bring access to localized, community-based services as alternatives to conventional law enforcement.

Envision:

  • Crisis teams trained in de-escalation and mental health responding to your call, offering support and resources instead of handcuffs.

  • Community programs addressing the root causes of addiction and behavioral health issues, fostering healing and long-term solutions.

  • A culture of understanding and compassion, where individuals in crisis are met with respect and dignity.

This is the vision of The Right Response, who are aggregating non police response resources across the country. Having access to safer, more just and compassionate pathways for those facing mental health and behavioral health challenges is central to our mission and vision for the future

Remember, you're not alone. There is a right response, and we are committed to helping you find it.
